Meet Shamim, MA, AMFT
Shamim obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from UNLV with focus on Marriage and Family Therapy and her master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy from Alliant International University, where she is also working towards her doctorate degree. Shamim has over 10 years of experience working in the mental health field. Her background is working with diverse populations, immigrants and refugees. She also has experience working with children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional issues in addition to couples and family therapy.
Shamim is currently receiving extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a highly effective modality for working with Couples and Individuals, in addition to completing her Doctorate degree in Couples and Family Therapy at Alliant International University.
Her use of this model is due EFT being the most research and evidenced based model in couple’s therapy.
Shamim’s approach and focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths by providing a neutral safe environment and customizing an individualized EFT treatment plan that best fits the life challenges and difficulties her clients face. She utlizes EFT to understand and aid in overcoming these challenges by collaborating with the client through an EFT therapeutic process and treatment plan to develop positive, respectful and loving relationships.
